Honor 6A with 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera launched in Europe

The launch of the Honor 6A in Europe indicates that the device might see a wider global roll-out than expected. However, It is still unclear if the Honor 6A will launch in India.

The Honor 6A, a budget smartphone from Huawei's online-exclusive brand, was first launched in China in May. Honor has now unveiled the smartphone in select markets of Europe. The chances of the device releasing in other global markets has increased, now that is has seen a European release.

In Europe, the Honor 6A comes with slight changes when compared to its Chinese counterpart. In China, the device is available in two storage options; one with 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, and the other with 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM. The European variant of the Honor 6A is only available with 16GB storage and 2GB RAM.

The Honor 6A is another addition to the Honor 6 lineup, joining the Honor 6X and the Honor 6C. The smartphone comes with a metal unibody design and a 5-inch HD display, covered with 2.5D glass. The Honor 6A runs on the company's custom EMUI 5.1, based on Android Nougat 7.0. It's powered by the Snapdragon 430 octa-core platform (4 cores at 1.2 GHz and 4 cores at 1GHz), coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU.

In the camera department, the Honor 6A is equipped with a 13MP shooter supported by an LED flash at the back, and a 5MP snapper on the front. The rear camera sensor comes with a wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. It also supports HDR, PDAF, panorama and other shooting modes, while the front camera offers a beautification mode.

The Honor 6A is a dual-SIM device, backed by a 3,020mAh battery. It  retains the classic 3.5mm headphone jack, and on the connectivity front, supports VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and a micro USB port. The Honor 6A is available in three colors — gray, silver and gold.

In France, the Honor 6A is priced at EUR 169 (approximately Rs 12,400). The pricing is higher than the Chinese variant, which is priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs. 7,500) for the base 16GB/2GB variant. It is unclear if the smartphone will make its way to India. Honor recently launched the Honor 8 Pro in India, which competes head-on with the the Oneplus 5. The Honor 8 retails at Rs 29,999, while the Oneplus 5 starts at Rs 32,999.
