Vivo V5s smartphone with 20MP selfie camera, 4GB RAM launched at Rs 18,990

Vivo has expanded its product line-up in India with the launch of a new smartphone. Dubbed V5s, the smartphone is priced at Rs 18,990. It's an upgraded version of the V5 , which the company launched in November last year.Like majority of Vivo 's smartphones, the V5s is also a selfie-centric smartphone. It has a 20MP front-facing camera with Vivo's signature 'Moonlight Glow' feature. The handset is available in Crown Gold and Matte Black colour variants, and has a design that's similar to the V5.

As far as the specifications are concerned, Vivo V5s retains all specifications from its predecessor V5, apart from the internal storage. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD display of 720×1280 pixel resolution that comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek chipset with 4GB of RAM. But instead of offering 32GB ROM like its predecessor, Vivo V5s offers 64GB of internal storage and can hold microSD cards of up to 256GB.

Early 'iPhone 8' Case Has Vertical Camera Cutout, Suggests Front-Facing Touch ID รข€“ Mac Rumors

Mobile phone leaker KK Sneak Leaks posted an image on Twitter this morning purporting to show one of the first third-party protective cases for Apple's upcoming redesigned OLED iPhone, which isn't expected to launch until at least September.

The transparent case has a few features that are consistent with recent schematics purporting to depict the front-running design of the so-called "iPhone 8". Most prominent is the cutout on the upper left of the case which indicates vertically aligned dual cameras, as opposed to the horizontal alignment on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Purported third-party case for "iPhone 8" via KK Sneak Leaks

Conspicuous in its absence however is any sort of opening for a fingerprint sensor located on the rear, suggesting Touch ID will remain a front-facing feature. Apple is rumored to be trying to build Touch ID into the iPhone's display, but the company has reportedly been struggling with perfecting the technology, suggesting it could resort to putting the sensor on the rear of the device.

The pill-shaped volume buttons shown in the picture on the right side appear to be in their normal places, but the power button on the left looks longer than on previous iPhones, which is something we've also seen on recent dummy models. Elsewhere, the bottom of the case indicates standard speaker grille locations either side of what will presumably be an all-in-one Lightning connector.

Early case leaks have historically been fairly accurate indicators of new iPhone designs, with some exceptions, but this is a uniquely challenging year for third-party case manufacturers looking to nail down the final design.

Apple is still thought to be testing multiple prototypes for its upcoming "10th anniversary edition" iPhone, and rather than be privy to the final design, case makers may simply resort to following the most likely one based on the same leaks covered by rumor sites, so bear those caveats in mind.

Apple's 4.7-inch OLED iPhone is likely to be sold alongside two standard "S" cycle iPhones with LCD displays, which are said to be similar in size to the existing iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Rumors suggest the leading candidate for the final chassis is a stainless steel frame sandwiched between front and rear symmetrical glass. Apple is also supposedly working on an inductive wireless charging solution for its "premium" handset model.

Rumors also suggest Apple's "iPhone 8" supplies may be highly constrained when the new range of phones launches, making it harder to obtain in the first few months of release, although this is not an unusual claim in the months preceding a new iPhone launch.

Xperia XZ Premium with memory-stacked camera and 4K HDR to launch on June 1

At Mobile World Congress 2017, Sony took the smartphone industry by storm after launching the Xperia XZ Premium, which can shoot slow-motion videos at an incredible 960 frames per second. It is also the world's first phone to feature a 4K HDR (2,160 x 3,840 pixels) display on a smartphone.

After revealing Xperia XZ premium at MWC, there hasn't been any news on the official launch of the phone. However, the company has launched its small brother Xperia XZs in several markets including India. For the first time, a telecommunications service provider O2 of Germany has announced that Xperia XZ Premium will begin shipping to users starting from 1st June. Also, Amazon UK provided the same date for the listing of the phone on its platform. Indian launch is murky at this point of time.

To recap, the IP68 water/dust resistant Xperia XZ comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD 4k HDR (3840 x 2160 pixels) display. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the Xperia XZ Premium's screen. Under the hood, i t is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 SOC that consists of four Kyro cores clocked at 2.45GHz and four Kyro cores clocked at 1.9GHz coupled with Adreno 540 GPU.

In terms of storage, it packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage with an option to expand the storage via microSD card upto 256GB. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with the company's customer software layer on the top. A non-removable 3200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support fuels the device.

On the camera front, it houses a 19MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, EIS, Laser autofocus, PDAF and LED flash. On the front, it sports a 13MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on Xperia XZ Premium include 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/GLONASS, NFC OTG support, USB Type-C port, etc. Sensors on board are a side-mounted Fingerprint, accelerometer, barometer, proximity, and compass. The device will be available in Luminous Chrome, Deepsea Black, and Bronze Pink.

New iPhone 8 leak hints at wireless charging, dual vertical camera, and edge-to-edge screen

The rumor mills are on the roll regarding the upcoming iPhone. We have seen a lot of leaks and rumors for the iPhone 8 and will continue to hear about it till the phone gets launched officially — probably sometime in September. A new leak reiterates what we already expect to be packed into the device — the iPhone 8 could feature wireless charging.

The phone's schematics, leaked via @OnLeaks show that the next iPhone could feature wireless charging. We can easily spot the rounded surface at the back of the device, indicating that there should be a conductive surface to charge the device.

This is a tipped leak what means I can't confirm if legit or not but there you have it… #iPhone8 pic.twitter.com/6OgASNUDNb

— OnLeaks (@OnLeaks) April 26, 2017

Apart from that, the schematics also shows that the two cameras on the back are placed vertically, with an LED flash sitting in middle of the two camera modules. The bottom of the devi ce confirms that we are not going to see a 3.5mm headphone jack in this iPhone as well — another sign of Apple's continued courage.

Besides wireless charging, another interesting part is the top of the device which features four different holes next to the speaker. It could mean that the next iPhone could have two selfie cameras or maybe a front-facing flash.

The leaked image does not show the Apple touch ID module at the back of the device, as rumored earlier. This could mean that the company has found a solution to integrate Touch ID into the display itself, a significant achievement.

Keeping with the trend, Apple is believed to remove the physical button from the iPhone's front screen and will also extend the screen to the edges. It is also speculated that Apple could move away from the 16:9 display ratio.

There are reports out there indicating that the iPhone 8 could be delayed. Mass production of the iPhone with an OLED display will likely push ba ck the release to either October or November. They pointed the upcoming phone's "significant hardware upgrades", including the OLED screen, a new 3D Touch module, and depth-sensing front camera with AR features, as reasons for the delay.

According to reports, the iPhone 8 will mark the tenth-anniversary of the iPhone and will be accompanied alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. The Apple's iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will bring minor hardware upgrades. All three iPhones are said to run iOS 11, which is expected to a prominent refresh as well.

Alleged iPhone 8 blueprint reveals dual vertical cameras and dual batteries

While Apple is going to launch three iPhones this year, the iPhone 8 is the undoubtedly the most anticipated one. As September draws close, almost every other day a new rumor about the upcoming iPhone comes up.

Now, a blueprint revealing the internal components of the phone has surfaced online. Keeping in line with some of the previous rumors, it says that the 10th-anniversary model will be dubbed as the iPhone X. Up until now, we have seen a countless number of leaks regarding the features and specs of the iPhone 8, and most of them have indicated us that it will feature dual cameras at the back.

Also Read: Apple iPhone 8: Specs, design, availability, concept video and more

This blueprint suggests the same. As you can see, the phone is likely to come with a vertically arranged, rear dual-camera setup. The cameras are housed at the top left corner, just like that of on the iPhone 7 Plus.

The blueprint further reveals that the iPhone 8 will come equipped with Apple's new generation processor, the A11 chip. The new chip will be apparently placed below the WiFi and SIM module.

You can also see a 3D camera and an infrared biometric scanner at the top of the full vision display. In addition to this, the upcoming iPhone is said to come with dual batteries under its hood.

Contradicting some of the earlier rumors, the blueprint shows that the fingerprint scanner will be located on the front of the device.

Another noteworthy thing we have come to know from the blueprint is that the iPhone 8 is expected to feature dual speakers.

Of course, like all the other rumors, its authenticity is not determined. In any case, we have to wait until the official launch of iPhone 8 in September.

iPhone 8 dummy model shows Edge to Edge Display, vertical dual camera system, no home button and more

Many rumors has been rounding around the internet of the upcoming Apple iPhone 8. Now a dummy of the iPhone 8 has been posted by Benjamin Geskin on Twitter which shows an iPhone made up of glass and stainless steel with an edge to edge display with no bezels on the sides and the top and bottom. Also the dummy showcases a vertical dual camera system which matches the rumors and information from the past. What most interesting thing is there is no Apple logo on the back of the iPhone. Is Apple planning to add a feature from mac where an Apple logo glows only when used? If so then it will probably be the best thing that will happen to the next iPhone 8. Since the dummy shows an Edge to Edge display and no physical home button, Apple might integrate a new type of home button which will be under the display as per rumor. The iPhone 8 in the dummy looks so shiny like a jet black color which Apple launched for the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus but it is more like a glass as Apple is rumored to make an iPhone 8 with all glass casing. Also the volume button, mute switch, power button and the sim tray are as it is.

The reports may not be true but it is really exciting because the next iPhone 8 will certainly get the new design. If all the rumors come true then the iPhone 8 will be Apples great achievement and will be the best phone in the world. These types of rumors and prototypes will certainly give an idea of what iPhone 8 may look like and there is even more to come. iPhone 8 is rumored to feature 3D sensing front facing camera, 3GB of RAM, wireless charging and a 5.8 inch OLED display. It will be launched later this year. Source: 9to5mac

Meet Galaxy Note 8 - Samsung's first dual camera phone

The AMOLED edge-to-edge curved display on Samsung's new Galaxy S8 has been widely praised as one of the phone's crowning features - but unfortunately, it seems some models may not be living up to expectations. As we know, they have redesigned a lot on these two devices.

Meanwhile, other owners of the early editions of the Galaxy S8 noticed that the company has blocked the remapping ability of the dedicated Bixby button, the only button dedicated to turning on Samsung's exclusive digital assistant.

The South Korean tech giant showcased the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus last month, with official sales of the device kicking off in South Korea and the United States on Friday.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by the CNET News team in NY and producer Bryan VanGelder. But we can assume the price will be around 50K INR considering the price of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7+.

If you buy phones and you're in it for the long haul, like 2-3 years, then things like how easy is the phone to fix is an important question.

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8 inch QHD display; while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2 inch QHD display. Despite having a lovely looking display, some global users are complaining about the freakish 18:5:9 aspect ratio. Samsung also upped the security feature with an iris scanner, face recognition and fingerprint scanner - moved to the back of the device - to unlock the device.

Both smartphones feature 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera with F1.7 lens and are powered by the industry first 10nm processor.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to have a dual-camera set-up, so the leaked design of the Galaxy S8 pretty much spells what the phablet is going to look like. And yes, don't forget about the new Bixby assistant. Both devices are also water and dust (IP68)-resistant. 'Can't say it will never happen, but we won't officially support, ' Samsung representative Philip Berne stated in a tweet. Would you be interested in buying either them for this price?

iPhone 7 Plus camera has no clothes

After an epic struggle with the U.S. government's dreaded eAPIS system and two phone calls (the elaborate web-based system for advising the government of people leaving and entering the U.S. was layered on top of the old one, so you have to call the customs agents on the phone even after you've entered all of the information about an inbound flight into a web site), we managed to connect with the U.S. Customs agent at the Burlington, Vermont airport. The light was hitting our tired 12-year-old flight school Cirrus SR20 just right so it was time for a photo. Here is the same scene with the basic camera and with the fancy "telephoto" lens that is the big innovation of the iPhone 7 Plus:

Police body camera proposal could increase your phone bill

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Body cameras are becoming standard for many law enforcement agencies across the country, and Nevada could soon be the next state to mandate their use.

Senate Bill 176 would require all law enforcement officers in the state who regularly interact with the public to wear body cameras while on the job.

"We think it's a good policy, one that can protect both police and the public," Senator Aaron Ford (D) said.

Sen. Ford is one of the main sponsors of the bill. He also sponsored similar legislation last session mandating all Nevada Highway Patrol troopers wear body cameras. That bill just went into effect this year.

"I think this bill is a good opportunity for police officers to be protected from frivolous complaints, and I think it's a good opportunity for the public to be protected from rogue cops," Sen. Ford said. "I wouldn't say this bill is a direct response to anything happening. It's just a good idea."

Several law enforcement agencies across the state also think it's a good idea. Washoe County Sheriff Chuck Allen says he's looked into outfitting his deputies with cameras, since they would help validate many of the decisions made by law enforcement every day.

"The video doesn't lie," he said. "And often the public will just see a piece of what transpired and not know what lead up to that call and what led the officer, the deputy, the trooper to take that reasonable force necessary to neutralize that threat."

He says the cameras would be a win-win for both police and the community. The deputies are already used to being taped since the Sheriff's Office marked cars are already outfitted with cameras. He also says if this bill passes, he will "lead by example" and also wear a camera for the remainder of him term as sheriff. He says the cameras will also help with transparency.

"Our deputies are out there doing great things every day, but we don't always have the ability to convey that to the community," he said. "Often a 10- to 15-second clip interacting with the community somewhere can be very educational to our citizens."

But like everything in life, implementing the system comes down to money.

"It's not so much the upfront cost of the camera itself, but it's the storage of all the digital data that will be required for us to maintain," Sheriff Allen said.

The WCSO estimates it will cost $750,000 to implement a 100-camera system over a 5-year contract. Sheriff Allen says there are more than 100 people in his department that would be required to wear the body cameras, so that cost will likely be higher. The City of Sparks says the first-year costs of implementing body cameras would be around $112,000. That includes approximately $70,000 for equipment, plus about $42,000 for monthly storage fees. The city estimates after the first year, it will cost about $127,000 to maintain the system. That includes the $42,000 data storage cost plus $85,000 for a staff member to be responsible for video management, redaction, and distribution.

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says it will also have a fiscal impact as a result of buying additional storage for body camera footage, as well as personnel to download, transfer and copy the video taken for evidence, but says the exact amount is unknown.

The NHP, which received more than $1 million from the 2015 Legislature to implement the body camera system, says it needs an additional $478,416 each fiscal year for data transfer and storage relating to bodycameras.

SB 176 helps solve the fiscal problem by authorizing the Board of County Commissioners in each county to increase the 911 surcharge people pay on their phone bills. Currently in Washoe County, people pay a 911 surcharge of $0.25 per phone line each month. That money pays for the maintenance of the 911 system. This bill allows county commissioners to increase that charge up to $1.00.

"It could be $0.20, it could be $0.25, it could be $0.95 cents, but only up to a dollar per phone for a 911 surcharge," Sen. Ford said.

If commissioners don't approve an increased surcharge rate, counties face an unfunded mandate.

The county estimates if it raised the surcharge to the full dollar, about $4.8 million in revenue would be collected. That money would be split among the agencies required to wear the cameras: Reno Police, Sparks Police, WCSO, City Marshall, and University Police. Washoe County School Police are exempt from the mandate. But Sheriff Allen says it's likely commissioners won't have to raise the surcharge the full amount.

"I was told that if they only raise it $0.25, based on the calls for service in this county, that will generate something north of $1.2 to $1.4 million a year," Sheriff Allen said.

That's enough, he says, to cover the cost of the system.

SB 176 passed the Nevada Legislature Senate, and has been referred to the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs. If the bill passes and is signed into law, it will go into effect July of 2018. Sheriff Allen says if that happens, his department will look to Vegas Metro, which already requires its officers to wear cameras, as to how to implement a policy that works for the department.

Can the Mi 6 phone woo the global market with its dazzling blue glass shell and dual cameras?

China's leading smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi on Wednesday launched its new flagship smartphone Mi 6 in Beijing. The new 5.15-inch phone shell is made of glass and armed with some of the hottest features including a dual camera and curved screen.

"We have integrated all our deep research over the past seven years into the Mi 6," said Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, at the press launch.

The Mi 6 is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The processor is the most advanced chip in the world and the first to be launched in China via Mi 6, according to Lei. In addition, it has a 6 GB RAM. It is not surprising that Mi 6 has a solid performance as Xiaomi started its business by making smartphones with cost-performance ratios lower than any other competitor in the market.

The new flagship phone is made of curved glass with a stainless frame. The Mi 6 comes in three colors: black, white, and blue. This smartphone has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack and uses a USB Type-C earphone instead.

The smartphone is equipped with some features for consumers who are increasingly addicted to taking photos, and of course selfies. Its dual camera is empowered with 4-axis OIS to help users take more stabilised photos. What's more, Mi 6's rear camera is embedded flat into the phone, unlike the camera in the iPhone 7 Plus which is slightly protruding out.

Priced at RMB 2,499 (USD 363), the 64 GB smartphone will go on sale on April 28 via online channels and major Xiaomi offline stores.

Rather than question whether the smartphone is worth buying, a bigger concern for Xiaomi fans is whether they are able to get their hands on the phone. It has become difficult to purchase Xiaomi smartphones shortly after it is released for sale.

Founded in 2010, Xiaomi recently faced some obstacles despite its initial overwhelming success in smartphone technology. The company lost its crown as China's largest smartphone manufacturer in 2016, ending a two-year reign. The unicorn, now ranked fifth place among China's smartphone manufacturers, saw its shipments plunge to 41.5 million in 2016, down 36% year-on-year.

"Xiaomi faced growth pressure over the past year. In the first few years since Xiaomi was founded, we were highly focused on e-commerce to ensure our smartphones are competitive in cost-performance ratio. But e-commerce only accounts for about 10 percent of the entire retail industry," said Lei Jun at the press launch.

The company is making plans to reverse the trend. Over the next three years, it will open 1,000 offline stores in China's first-tier and second-tier cities.

Galaxy Note 8 could offer a dual-camera setup that's 'much better than that of iPhone 7 Plus'

Galaxy Note 8's dual-camera setup said to be the 'most important upgrade' in the device.

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has dished out a few details on the Galaxy Note 8. In a note released to investors obtained by 9to5Google, Kuo said that the phone will feature a dual-camera setup with a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 13MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Both imaging sensors will offer OIS and six-element lenses, with Kuo stating that the dual rear cameras will be the "most important upgrade" in the Note 8.

Galaxy S8 dual cameras

According to Kuo, Samsung's implementation of the dual-camera setup will be "much better than that of iPhone 7 Plus, and likely match that of OLED iPhone." It's no secret that Samsung tested dual cameras on the Galaxy S8, but the company ditched the idea as it didn't find "real value for it yet." We've seen leaked prototypes of the phone with two rear cameras, and it looks like the company is saving the feature for the Note line.

Kuo also shared details on the early sales figures of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, stating that market feedback is "better than expected:"

According to our survey, market feedback to Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ (abbreviated as 'S8') has been better than expected since their unveiling. We attribute this to a better- than-expected selling point in the full-screen design. For this reason, we revise up our 2017F S8 shipments from 40-45mn units to 50-55mn units.

Post-launch market response a big thumbs up for full-screen design, offsetting our concerns. Although the full-screen design has not created any new applications, its form factor will be effective in attracting high-end users. This is why market feedback has exceeded our expectations.

Samsung netted over 1 million pre-orders for the flagships in its home market, and is set to kick off sales later this week in the U.S. For more on the Galaxy S8, be sure to check out our comprehensive review.

Samsung was working on a phone with a dual-camera setup

The near bezel-less display and soft buttons of the phone are a dead giveaway that this is indeed a Galaxy S8 that was left out of the production cycle.

Another Samsung Galaxy S8+ leak from Russian tech blogger Eldar Murtazin now shows two more images of a purported Galaxy S8 prototype and they're not like the final design either (the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have the same design, but in different sizes).

While Samsung seemingly never intended for the Bixby button to be customizable in the first place, third-party developers were able to change what the button did, such as booting up the camera or launching Google Assistant instead.

However, there is one pice of hardware that users would've liked an upgrade to with this year's flagship, and that's the camera on the Galaxy S8; the rear camera is the same as Galaxy S7, but the front-facing lens has been upgraded to an 8MP lens, citing the ever-increasing importance of the selfie shooter.

We know that this is not the first time T-Mobile made a decision to ship out their device earlier than expected. If this is true, it means that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus could be arriving earlier for these T-Mobile customers. A dual rear camera setup, once perfected, would be a great addition to a device line that showcases Samsung's best of the best.

For now, then, we can only look at the leaked image and think about what might have been - and perhaps, what could be.

After the fiery debacle associated with the Galaxy Note7, which was ultimately and unsurprisingly pinned upon its battery, Samsung went back to the drawing board and came up with a comprehensive eight-point battery safety check to ensure that future smartphones, such as the Galaxy S8 would not suffer the same fate. Both the devices have display ration of extra wide aspect ratio of 18.5:9. You can expand the storage upto 256GB with microSD card.

"Bixby Voice will be available in the USA on the Galaxy S8 later this spring".

Xiaomi Mi 6 to carry dual-camera set-up on back and feature 6GB of RAM?

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is about to be unveiled this coming Wednesday, and all of the signs point toward the device coming to market with 6GB of RAM instead of 4GB of the sweet stuff. For example, on the recent Geekbench test we told you about last week, the Xiaomi Mi 6 was indeed equipped with 6GB of RAM. In addition, a recent video teaser from Xiaomi has confirmed the upgrades for the phone.

The Mi 6 will offer three upgrades from the company's previous flagship model, the Xiaomi Mi 5. One is the replacement of a single camera system on the back of the phone with a dual-camera setup. The …

Phone Photography: Tips and Tricks

When you take a picture, you can make the thing/person bigger or smaller by taking a different perspective.

The basic perspectives are Frog, Normal en Bird perspective, I prefer the frog perspective because it gives a grand feeling and makes pictures wow.

I took pictures of the statue, the first one is frog, second is normal and the last one is bird. If you want to take different pictures of 1 thing try this technique and take a look afterwards and see wich one is your favourite.

New iPhone 8 Leak Suggests an Invisible Camera Under The Screen

 iPhone 8

iPhone 8 rumors. Last month is keep coming in and now a new report points out that Apple might try to use TouchID on the rear of the device, instead of the under-screen solution that has long been rumored.

iDrop News – whose source is allegedly "spoke with a Foxconn employee" – and he thinks Apple is actually testing both ideas at the moment.

TouchID under the display is fun application and a new feature for iPhone, but it seems like the technology has proven tricky to complete – Samsung allegedly tried to do the same with the S8, but they left the idea at the last minute.

The rumored prototype also suggests the phone will have an "invisible" camera under the display. How the speaker grill fits into that equation, We are not sure yet.

iDrop News has commissioned some renders based off of its new information. Note that this prototype is said to be the same dimensions as the smaller iPhone 7.

If you think Samsung didnรข€™t improve the Galaxy S8รข€™s camera, these photos will change your mind

On Tuesday, we shared a video of a camera showdown pitting the Galaxy S8 against the iPhone 7 Plus. The results were somewhat inconclusive when it came to deciding on a winner, but it appears that the Galaxy S8 features a better camera than the iPhone 7 for certain environments and slightly worse in others.

While the camera might not be the most hyped feature of the upcoming Galaxy S8, it's still a vital component for any smartphones. That's why Samsung commissioned a study to determine the twenty greatest British views, featuring photographs of gorgeous British vistas shot on the Galaxy S8.

"We wanted to mark the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S8, with its unique and groundbreaking Infinity Display, by celebrating the beautiful views in our country of mountains, highlands, beaches and urban skylines that are best enjoyed unconfined," said Sam Grant, Marketing Director at Samsung Electronics UK.

Scroll through the slideshow below to see all 20+ photos that were taken with the Galaxy S8 for the study:

According to the specifications page for the Galaxy S8 on Samsung's wesbite, the dual pixel, 12-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S8 features an F/1.7 aperture, a pixel size of 1.4ยตm, a sensor size of 1/2.55″ and can zoom in up to 8x. Galaxy S8 owners will also be able to switch between pro mode, panorama, slow motion, hyperlapse and food mode and can even save photos as RAW files to edit later.

Once you're done scrolling through the photos, you can watch a video of the 20 British views below:

Samsung's Galaxy S8 is available for preorder now and will begin shipping later this month.

LeEco Debuts รข€œLeLeรข€ Voice Assistant with its Le Pro3 Dual Camera AI Edition Smartphone

LeEco has been teasing about its new smartphone launch from the last few weeks. While we all expected to see the Le Max3 as the successor to Le Max2, today, the company unveiled the all-new Le Pro3 Dual Camera AI edition. Last year, the company launched the Le Pro3 with single rear camera in the U.S. Now, the Le Pro3 Dual Camera AI edition is the company's first smartphone to feature dual camera setup. This is also first major launch event after the company's financial problems are revealed publicly. Just yesterday, the company has canceled the $2 billion worth deal to purchase the U.S TV brand, Vizio.

Talking about the device, it comes with high-end specifications and is priced very aggressively at just 1799 Yuan (approx $260 / Rs. 16,800) for the Helio X23 powered variant and 2399 Yuan (approx $350 / Rs. 22,400) for the Helio X27 powered variant.Apart from the change in processor and onboard storage, there are no other differences between both these devices. It comes with a unibody metal design with curved antenna bands. As seen with the earlier launched LeEco smartphones, the company still offers that camera bump on the rear.

The new Le Pro 3 sports 5.5-inch In-cell display on the front with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. There is also a 2.5D curved glass laid on top. The base variant comes with MediaTek Helio X23 deca-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, whereas the high-end variant comes with 2.6GHz Helio X27 deca-core processor. Both the variants come with 4GB of RAM, but the Helio X23 variant comes with 32GB of onboard storage, whereas the Helio X27 variant sports 64GB of internal storage. It still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the customized EUI 5.9 laid on top.

Coming to the USP of the device, there is a 13MP monochrome sensor and a 13MP RGB sensor on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and 6P lens. It comes LE IMAGE AI engine to look after image processing for better output. For selfies, there is also an 8MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and 76.5-degree wide-angle lens. It measures 152.4 x 75.1 x 7.5 mm and weighs 168 grams. The device will be available in Gold, Champagne Gold, and Black color options. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers TDD and FDD-LTE support.

Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. On the rear, there is also a fingerprint sensor placed just below the dual rear cameras. The device lacks the 3.5mm Audio port and comes with CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) support for connecting the earphones to the Type-C port. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery that can easily give a day-long battery life. The company is also offering nine stickers for the rear camera module for free within the package.

It is now available to pre-order, and the sales start from April 14th. There is no information about the launch of the Le Pro3 Dual Camera AI edition in the other markets like the U.S and India. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!

How to turn your phone into a movie camera

  • Meet the guitar string that can't be broken

  • Would you pay for online privacy?

  • How to spring clean your fitness regime

  • VENICE BEACH, California.—We would all love to have smoother, more cinematic video footage like we see in the movies.

We can now get that on mobile devices, at consumer prices, with an add-on device called a steadicam.

In this week's #TalkingTech smackdown, we look at three mobile steadicams (also known as smoothcams, stabilizers or grips), the devices that aim to turn jumpy cell-phone and camera video into sweeping views, by using motors that steady the shot.

We begin with the new kid on the block, the Smove. At $139, it's the lowest priced of the bunch.

The DJI Osmo($550) started the trend, and continued it in 2016 with the lower-priced Osmo Mobile ($299), offering smooth video from the Chinese-based drone maker.

And the GoPro Karma Grip, originally intended as an accessory for the Karma drone, is now sold individually, for $299.

All three bring the motorized gimbal used on drones to the camera or phone to steady the image.

Jefferson Graham tries out three consumer gimbals at Venice Beach: Smove, GoPro Karma and the DJI Osmo . © Robert Hanashiro, USAT Jefferson Graham tries out three consumer gimbals at Venice Beach: Smove, GoPro Karma and the DJI Osmo . How does this work? Many drones have "three-axis" gimbals — that is, three motors, to work at stabilizing the footage as it soars through the skies. Cheaper drones have two-axis gimbals, and thus, are not as steady. The same metrics apply to the land-based steadicams.

    Smove

The Smove just came out of crowd funding on the IndieGogo website, where it raised $1.4 million, and is shipping now. Reader alert: the getsmove.com website redirects to Indiegogo, where it appears to be still looking for backers. The company assures us this isn't the case: click the $139 option, and you'll get a unit shipped to you. The company says it will set up its own website soon.

Besides smooth video, other features include the ability to charge your phone while shooting video, which is cool, but buyer beware. The unit is no fun to set up, with instructions that are hard to follow, and little online help as well.

But if you're short on cash and have to get a stabilizer, the price is a bargain, and the unit is an improvement over your normal smartphone footage.

    Osmo

I've written about the Osmo units in the past, and love both of them, although I'm partial to the $550 version, which comes with its own, super wide-angle camera.

The Osmo Mobile records footage to the iPhone or select Android models. As good as those cameras are, the Osmo camera is better, at least for getting wide-angle cinematic footage without camera shake.

(It's fun to walk down the street with the Osmo, and see your walk presented as super steady, like a camera was flying by your side.)

The $550 model connects via DJI private Wi-Fi, which can be problematic when in big crowds, or bluetooth for the $299 version. Battery life is really poor with these units—the juice can peter out in as little as 45 minutes, and you're draining your smartphone battery too.

    GoPro Karma Grip

And unlike the Smove or Osmo units, you don't have to connect to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to operate the unit. Just turn it on, and you're good to go.

To operate the Grip, place the Hero camera in the cradle, snap it tight, and power it up on the bottom of the unit. This, in turn, charges both the grip and camera. Once charged, turn on the power button on the grip, click record, and have fun.

The negative here is that you get less real estate to compose your images as with the others. With the Smove and Osmo units, the phone is your viewfinder, good for 4 to 5.5 inches, vs. the 2 inches for the Hero.

And if you have a Hero 5, you'll need to spring for a $29.99 adapter to fit the unit into the Karma grip.

Yet for the ease of not having to pair to Bluetooth or Wifi, one-click power starts, longer lasting battery and fabulous footage, the #TalkingTech smackdown victor goes to the Karma Grip.

What's your favorite grip for smooth mobile footage? Let's chat about it on Twitter, where I'm @jeffersongraham. And don't forget to subscribe to the daily #TalkingTech podcast on iTunes and Stitcher.

Apple iPhone 8/iPhone X drawings leak; show dual rear camera setup and wraparound display

     |   |   | Apple iPhone 8/iPhone X drawings leak; show dual rear camera setup and wraparound display

These drawings shed light on iPhone 8/iPhone X

    Updated: Monday, April 10, 2017, 9:40 [IST]

The upcoming iPhone dubbed iPhone 8 or iPhone X is hitting the rumor mills almost every other day. There is a lot of excitement for this model as it is the tenth-anniversary edition of the iconic smartphone.

Lately, we have come across rumors that this new iPhone that is all set to be launched later this year could be delayed until October. The reason for this delay is likely the use of the OLED display panel on board that is expected to face some supply issues. In the meantime, the gossips regarding the phone don't seem to stop. There is a recent report that the iPhone 8 might cost over $1,000 for the high-end model.

Also Read: iPhone 8 will be similar to Samsung Galaxy S8

Today, we have come up with a set of drawings of the alleged iPhone 8/X that has leaked online. These drawings show us how the smartphone might actually look like.

Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!

Full wraparound display could be true

Previously, we have come across rumors suggesting that the iPhone 8/X might feature a full wraparound display. The drawings those were leaked by Foxconn, the major manufacturer of Apple also point at the same. By saying wraparound display, we mean that there won't be any bezels and the home button, front camera, fingerprint sensor and other such sensors will be embedded on below the screen. The display will be wrapped using a rounded metal frame as in the Apple Watch.

    Vertical dual camera setup

One of the leaked drawings of the alleged iPhone 8 or iPhone X comes in as a big surprise. The drawing shows a dual rear camera system at the rear in a vertical arrangement. If this drawing is anything to go by, the upcoming iPhone might have a vertical dual rear camera setup with LED flash and laser auto focus positioned between the two lines.

    Sides will be the same

While it is said that there won't be any button or sensor at the front, the last drawing shows that the iPhone will still have the physical buttons and switches at the sides. These might include the volume rocker, power button, and mute/unmute switch.

Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!

Huawei finally has a phone worthy of the Leica brand

From super slow-mo cameras and bezel-less displays to banking on the power of nostalgia, smartphone makers have tried almost every trick they can to stand out. Huawei's latest strategy is to partner with color authority Pantone to come up with a variety of eye-catching hues for its latest flagship. The Huawei P10 (and the slightly larger P10 Plus) will be available in a slew of colors and finishes. But, while that's nice for people looking to personalize their phones, it's not particularly useful.

What's actually useful about the new flagship are its powerful camera and reliable performance wrapped in an understated, elegant frame. And although the phones won't officially be coming to the US for now (they'll sell in Europe starting at €649), they're still a tantalizing preview of what Huawei might have in store.

Huawei has already proven it is capable of building premium, good-looking handsets, and the P10 is further evidence of that. Its slim, 6.98mm (0.27-inch) profile and gently curving edges aren't just pleasant to look at, they're a pleasure to hold as well.

Many of my friends have pointed out the P10's resemblance to the iPhone. And indeed, that's true of the basic white/gold version I tested. If you aren't feeling the Apple-esque look, you can opt for one of many customization options that Huawei offers. Pick a different color -- there are seven hues, including Pantone-approved "Dazzling Blue" and "Greenery," to choose from. Or try a different finish. You can get a smooth, sandblasted back, a glossy coat or a gritty texture that's reminiscent of ridged, holographic lenticular cards. That last option is popular with a couple of my coworkers, and it does help the P10 stand out. The colors and textures available vary between countries, though, so you might not be able to get the exact combination you want.

The P10's 5.1-inch full HD display is sharp and colorful, and while It won't wow you with richly saturated images or deep blacks like Samsung's flagships do, it's good enough for my Instagram and Netflix binges. The same can be said for the P10 Plus' 5.5-inch WQHD panel, which offers more space for gaming and reading. I just wish both phones were a tad brighter so I could read more easily in strong sunlight.

While we're on the subject, the P10 and P10 Plus come with screen protectors out of the box. It didn't bother me, but might annoy people who want direct access to the display. The trouble for these folks is it appears the protector was applied in lieu of an oleophobic coating on the screen, which other phones have to avoid fingerprint grease and water damage.

When we asked about the reported lack of this coating, Huawei said "The P10 is the world's first smartphone with capacitive under-glass fingerprint sensor for seamless navigation." In layman's terms, that all but confirms that Huawei did away with the coating to prevent interference with its under-glass fingerprint sensor. The company also said, "For screen protection, we have used premium materials such as Gorilla Glass 5 and include a screen protector as part of the integrated product." Basically,if you want to remove the screen protector (which by the way is incredibly difficult), do so knowing you risk damaging the display.

Below the screen sits a pill-shaped home key that houses the fingerprint sensor. Think of this as an etched-out touchpad. It doesn't depress or click; it simply senses your touch. There aren't separate Back and Recent Apps buttons on its sides; You'll have to tap once on the sensor to go back, hold down to go home and swipe sideways to multitask. This takes a bit of getting used to, but it's worth learning now, since Huawei is not the only company implementing this method (the Moto G5 uses a similar format).

If that's too much trouble, you can still opt for a set of onscreen navigation keys, which is the default setting for the larger P10 Plus. This feels more intuitive, but makes the physical sensor redundant and confusing since I still keep hitting it instinctively to go to the home screen.

Just like it has with the recently released Mate 9, Huawei has integrated artificial intelligence into the P10's system. Thanks to the company's custom octa-core Kirin 960 processor, the smartphone can learn your habits over time and divert resources like RAM and power to preparing the apps it predicts you will next open. During my month of testing, I most commonly used the P10 for taking pictures, looking at them in the gallery, and sharing them either on Instagram or to Google Drive. Switching between these apps is zippy, which could be a sign that Huawei's algorithm is working well here (or, you know, that the processor and RAM are more than adequate for how I used the phone). Like I noted when I reviewed the Mate 9, though, this isn't something you'll notice until it doesn't work. And it's not like the phone stuttered when pulling up apps I didn't use as frequently; In general, the P10 is responsive and multitasks well.

Capable performance and pleasant aesthetics are important basics to nail, but Huawei has come far enough that delivering those is no longer surprising. What I wasn't expecting, though, is the P10's ability to take stunning pictures. When Huawei first teamed up with Leica to co-engineer the P9's cameras in 2016, the result was underwhelming. Now, the collaboration finally seems to be paying off. I'd actually reach for the P10 over my iPhone 6s every time I want to snap a pretty picture (or a gratuitous selfie). The P10 Plus has newer Leica sensors and a larger f/1.8 aperture than the regular P10's f/2.0 setup, but I didn't notice a significant difference in image quality other than more-saturated colors on the larger handset. Both cameras performed similarly well.

The P10's rear features a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor, similar to the setup on a handful of Android phones from ZTE and Xiaomi. Together, the cameras capture crisp, colorful photos with pretty bokeh, thanks to software that applies an artificial depth-of-field effect to pictures. From my experience, though, the iPhone 7 Plus is more accurate at identifying outlines of faces while the P10 tends to be more muddy with its boundaries. It causes parts of my head, like my hair, to be blurred out along with the background. Still, the pictures look lovely, and the accuracy is already an improvement over the P9. Plus, it could easily be fixed with a software update.

What the P10 does that the iPhone can't though, is apply that same soft focus to selfies. I was won over the instant I saw the results -- they're almost pretty enough to make me switch to Android. It sounds vain, but the front-camera integration makes getting the bokeh effect much easier, and is a bonus for anyone who wants better selfies.

The P10's front camera also has a handy tool for group selfies that detects faces in the shot, and zooms in or out to accommodate them. This feature was finicky in my testing and didn't always work. When it did kick in, it did a good job of providing enough room for everyone in the picture, but it's too unreliable right now to be useful.

Software is a big reason the P10's pictures are superb. Its camera app features a trio of color profiles -- standard, vivid and smooth, that let you take richer, more saturated images that are Instagram-ready without any edits. These sometimes result in slightly overexposed photos because of the high contrast, but you can always shoot in standard mode to avoid that. The P10 is also impressive in low light. Pictures of buildings at night displayed almost no noise -- details were clear and colors were vivid. Portrait mode can introduce noise, but even there it's minor.

There is very little to dislike about the P10 -- even its battery life is satisfying. The regular P10 has a 3,200mAh cell while the Plus packs a 3,750mAh one. During my testing, both phones easily lasted about a day and a half of average use. But, any time I started playing games or watching videos on YouTube, that runtime drops to a day at best. That's still impressive, though, and recharging the phone is speedy enough, thanks to quick-charge support. I was surprised to see the P10 go from zero percent to 25 percent charged in a mere 15 minutes.

Ultimately, the P10 and P10 Plus are good-looking, responsive phones with excellent cameras. But they're not perfect. I'm not a fan of the home key navigation, nor do I like the limited availability of Huawei's unique color options. Plus, the handsets won't officially be coming to the US. If you get your hands on one and stick an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card in there, the phone will work, though you may not get full LTE speeds since the radio isn't optimized for US spectrums. Huawei has only just begun bringing its popular handsets stateside, so hopefully the P10 will make its way here soon.

Nubia Launches NeoAir VR Camera with 360-degree Live Streaming Support for $100

Today, Nubia launched its latest smartphone, Nubia Z17 Mini equipped with the dual-lens camera. Alongside the new smartphone, the company also unveiled the all-new NeoAir VR Camera (CP1001). A couple of months, Honor also launched its first 360-degree camera called Honor VR Camera. Both the Nubia NeoAir VR Camera and Honor VR Camera are actually the rebranded Insta360 Air. Even both the companies are selling their 360-degree cameras for 699 Yuan (approx $100 / Rs. 6,500) in China. Apart from the change in branding, both the Nubia NeoAir and Honor VR Cameras are the same devices.

Unlike the Samsung Gear 360 camera or the LG 360 Cam, the NeoAir VR camera comes with a USB Type-C pin and can be directly connected to any compatible Android smartphones with the USB Type-C port. It comes with dual camera sensors offering f/2.4 aperture. It can capture photos in 3008 x 1504 pixels (3K) resolution and record videos at 2560 x 1280 pixels (2K) resolution. This clip-on camera measures 37.6mm in diameter and weighs just 26.5 grams. The NeoAir can live stream in 360-degree on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

All the 360-degree content can be transformed into VR mode and can be viewed on the smartphone with a VR headset. Nubia is also offering a silicone rubber case that protects the NeoAir 360-degree camera. The latest Android smartphones with minimum 2GB of RAM & USB OTG support can be connected with the NeoAir VR camera. While the Honor VR camera comes in Blue color, the new Nubia NeoAir VR Camera comes only in Black color. Both the Honor and Nubia are yet to launch their VR cameras in the global markets.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung launched the upgraded Gear 360 camera along with Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. This new Gear 360 comes in a smaller form factor and supports 360-degree video recording in 4K resolution and also supports live streaming. Unlike the Nubia NeoAir or Honor VR cameras, the Gear 360 can be connected with the latest iPhones and Galaxy smartphones. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details and also share your thoughts about the 360-degree cameras in the comments section below.

Alcatel Unveils New Phone With Four Cameras

Details Published on Thursday, 06 April 2017 10:48

Alcatel announced their new Flash phone today and not only does it have dual-cameras, it actually has two of them. Yes, that's right, the new phone will have a dual-camera setup for both its main camera, and its front camera, which means it will have a total of four cameras on the phone itself.

This is in response to Oppo's and LG's recent unveiling of their dual front facing camera in the Oppo F3 and the LG V10.

The rear camera's will both be sporting 13-megapixel sensors with one of the cameras to be in color and the other monochromatic. This is the same setup that the iPhone 7 is using and it's also the same one that Huawei has been using on the P9 and Honor 8. The reasoning behind this is that both cameras will take the same picture at the same time and software will then stitch them together to create an image which is brighter and has more contrast. On the other hand, the dual front facing camera will have one camera at 8 megapixels with the second camera at 5 megapixels. It's unclear if Alcatel will be using the one color, one monochromatic setup on the front lenses as well, but for sure it will lead to better images.

Alcatel's new phone will also be have a 5.5-inch 1080p display and will be using the Mediatek Helio X20, which is, by the way, a deca-core processor. It will also be running on and older version of Android, Android Marshmallow, which came out in 2016.

Although the images will be clear and vivid, one thing about this phone isn't and that is it's availability and pricing as Alcatel has left us in the dark about such details.

Are four cameras too much or is Alcatel just way ahead of the curve with this new design?

Alcatel quietly launches world's first 10-core smartphone with four cameras

Alcatel has launched a new smartphone that features four cameras, two on the rear and two upfront. Though having dual cameras on the rear or front are not new, most smartphones that feature dual cameras have it either on the rear or in the front. This is the first phone of its kind that features dual cameras on both ends.

The rear cameras are both 13MP, with one for colour and the other for monochrome photos to create better quality photos. The front camera has one 8MP sensor and another 5MP sensor. The rear camera supports RAW data files that spews images in DNG format for better image processing on photo editing software.

On the hardware front, the Alcatel Flash phone is powered by a 10-core Helio X20 processor and sports a 5.5-inch full HD display. With 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the Flash has a find brushed metal texture body to give it a premium look.

The Flash is the world's first smartphone with dual cameras on the rear and front and has presently been launched in the UAE only. No prices have been revealed as yet.

Surveillance Camera Captures Violent Robbery on Chicago's North Side

The owner of a cell phone store on Chicago's North Side is recovering after a brazen robbery turned violent in an attack caught on video.

Surveillance cameras were rolling when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walked into the store in the 7100 block of N. Clark St. just before 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Police aren't sure if the suspect was armed, but that didn't stop him from seriously injuring the store owner, beating him repeatedly and even slamming his head into the counter.

The situation escalated quickly, and the man can be seen battering the owner as the violent confrontation escalated. Eventually the offender jumped over the counter and stole cell phones from a display case before fleeing the store, hitting a customer on the way out.

Jose Julio Lujan was supposed to be working in his father's Rogers Park store Monday morning, but he was running late – so his father took his place.

"I'm overwhelmed definitely. It's been a very long day. It's really sad," Lujan said. His father suffered lacerations to the face and the store was forced to close for the day after the assault.

"To see your father get hit by another man much bigger than him, to see injustice and to feel that it really takes a toll on you," he added.

The family had multiple surveillance cameras in the store that captured the robbery, and they released the video in hopes that someone may recognize the attacker and help police crack the case.

"I hope they catch him—I really do because justice needs to be served," Lujan said.

The family is still taking inventory to determine how much was taken, and they said they suspected the same man was in the store last week, acting suspicious and leaving before buying anything.

No one is in custody in connection with the incident and police continue to investigate.
