Bluboo Dual Smartphone Launched with Dual Rear Cameras & 3000mAh Battery

In 2016, we have seen quite a few smartphone manufacturers launching smartphones with dual rear cameras. While all the high-end smartphones from Huawei featured dual camera setup, the iPhone 7 Plus also came with the same dual rear cameras. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge smartphones which will be launched in early 2017 are also rumored to come with dual cameras on the rear. Now, a little Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Bluboo launched its first ever dual camera smartphone called Bluboo Dual.  The device comes with a unibody metal design with rounded corners.

The Bluboo Dual sports a 2.5D 5.5-inch In-cell display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is a MicroSD card slot on this device where the user can expand additionally upto 256GB. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity. The display of this device can be controlled with wet hands and also supports gestures like three-finger swipe for capturing screenshots.

It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with a customized UI laid on top. Talking about the USP of the device, it sports a 13MP and 2MP dual cameras on the rear. Snapdragon 835 In Microsoft Surface Phone Andy Tablet Comes With 8 Cores For Microsoft Surface Phone

Qualcomm says that Snapdragon 835 will be the world's first 10nm SoC. And, the company didn't want to officially talk about the technology inside Snapdragon 835 until a later date. But a leaked roadmap shows that it has 4+4 cores based on the Kryo 200 architecture. In other words, this chip is a beast.

The same leak doesn't talk about any clock speeds, but one can assume that there are four faster and more powerful and four slower cores, something that you saw with the Snapdragon 810 and the Snapdragon 600 series. A Chinese source includes the fact that this is a 10nm FinFET processor and has a Snapdragon X16 Gigabit class modem. These two things have been officially confirmed by Qualcomm.

The roadmap details Adreno 540, obviously, with faster GPU support for 4x LPDDR 4x @ 1866 MHz memory. The new Snapdragon 835 (also called MSM 8998 internally) supports UFS 2.1 storage and it is supposed to arrive in Q1 2017. The source is quite confident that you can expect to see this SoC inside some versions of Samsung Galaxy S8 phones.

Snapdragon 660 is clearly a successor to the recently launched Snapdragon 653. The Snapdragon 653 comes with four Cortex A72 with speeds up to 1.95GHz and four Cortex A53 for power saving. The new Snapdragon 653 supports a few important features that will drive phone sales in the mainstream part of the market in 2017. The Snapdragon 653 has a Snapdragon X9 Cat 7 modem with 300 Mbps downlink speeds and 150 Mbps uplink speeds, dual cameras, and supports 8GB of RAM.

This is what you will see in mainstream phones in early 2017. Let's not forget the Qualcomm upload plus. It comes with 2x20MHz carrier aggregation and 64-QAM modulation on both upload and download side. We think 8GB will be very big for mainstream and performance phones, but of course is pure marketing and very little to do with need or necessity.

According to the leaked roadmap, the information about the chip potentially called Snapdragon 660 are all over the place. First they called it the MSM 8976 Plus and Qualcomm shared on its website that the Snapdragon 653 also shares a 8976 Pro internal branding. The Snapdragon 660 and 8976 Plus might be two different chips. In any case they would come to replace the Snapdragon 653 / 652 SoCs.

The roadmap also claims that the MSM 8976 Plus chip comes with Kryo 4×4 configuration while the Snapdragon 660 comes with Cortex A73 quad core with four Cortex A53s. It would make a lot of sense to see the 14nm Cortex A73 quad core with four Cortex A53 cores. The GPU is updated to Adreno 512, while the Snapdragon 653 comes with Adreno 510. The 14nm makes sense as it will offer a lot of power savings compared to the Snapdragon 652 and 653, both based on a 28nm manufacturing process.

We would not expect to see Snapdragon 660 and mysterious MSM 8976 Plus before the middle of next year at the earliest, but the roadmap also claims that the new chip comes with Snapdragon X10 300/ 150 Mbit capable LTE Category 13 (uplink) LTE Category 7 (downlink) modem. Last and not least, the new MSM 8976 Plus might support UFS 2.1 storage and 2x LPDDR4 4X at 1866 MHz.

Apple Working With LG On Adding New 3D Dual-Lens Camera To Flagship iPhone 8?

Details regarding Apple's rumored iPhone 8 have been making the rounds over the last couple of weeks. A new report claims the company is working with LG on a new 3D dual-lens camera.

Ever since Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2014, the company has used more than just the larger 5.5-inch displays of its Plus models to differentiate it from its 4.7-inch siblings.

The iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus both included OIS (optical image stabilization) for the rear cameras, while the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s omitted this feature.

OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) Added To 4.7-Inch iPhone 7

When Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September, the company finally brought OIS (optical image stabilization) to the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 but still kept to its tradition of using the "Plus" model's camera to differentiate its latest and greatest iPhones.

This time around, Apple decided to add a dual-lens camera to the iPhone 7 Plus, which allows for enhanced features, including a blur effect that adds this effect to the background of pictures, while making the subject stand out more clearly.

2017 iPhone To Gain 3D Dual-Lens Camera?

A recent report has suggested that Apple's 2017 iPhone lineup will include three models, a 4.7-inch iPhone 7s, 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus and 5.1-inch to 5.2-inch iPhone 8.

The smartphones are also expected to be the first iPhones to support wireless charging out of the box. Now, a new report claims that Apple is experimenting with a new LG 3D dual-lens camera for the iPhone 8.

"Sources close to the situation said, "Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology into LG Innotek's smartphone camera," adding, "Since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely to bear fruit sometime within next year."

This new report may hold some truth, considering that Apple is currently using LG as the exclusive supplier to the dual-lens camera found in the iPhone 7 Plus. It's not clear if this means Apple will include this feature in its rumored iPhone 7s Plus, which is also expected to retain the dual-lens setup of the iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple Focusing On AR (Augmented Reality) For iPhone Camera

Apple has already confirmed that it views AR (augmented reality) as a feature it's looking into using in its mobile devices. The company is rumored to have a dedicated team of people working on adding augmented reality to the iPhone's stock camera app.

For now, we'll have to file this into the rumor category but we'll keep you posted on any new details as they become available. Source: Techtimes

IPhone 8 to include GROUNDBREAKING camera that will shoot 3D images

Reports say that Apple is now working closely with Korean tech giant LG on a dual camera which will be capable of 3D photography effects on the iPhone's 10th anniversary.

At least that's according to the latest rumours on the iPhone 8 which suggests Apple is now working with LG to develop the technology. The addition of a 3D camera will be exactly what Apple needs right now since their fans have been quite upset because the latest iPhone 7 sports the same design Apple has been using for a while now and they need to add something new or fans will lose interest in their devices. In a report by The Korea Economic Daily, it is said that reliable sources have said that Apple is now conducting studies as to how it would apply a 3D camera technology through LF Innotek's smartphone camera.

Apple has rumoredly tied up with LG Innotek for the production of the 3D camera sensors for the future iPhone model.

LG Innotek already supplies the dual lens units for the iPhone 7 Plus.

With the Rumour Apple's acquisition of Linux Imaging company comes into the picture and the Apple also acquired the Israeli start-up a year ago in April and the company also took the ownership giving permission to access for all the technologies coming in, following the acquisition. What LinX Imaging does is that they create 3D depth mapping for pictures, and this seems to go hand in hand with LG's Innotek camera.

Earlier this year, Apple unveiled its new and improved smartphone photography technology, but the next-generation iPhone might pack an even more impressive camera.

Since LG Innotek has its own 3D camera and other related technologies, such collaboration is very likely to be fruitful and the results will be seen by the public next year.

Sketch of Meizu’s Unknown Smartphone appears with Dual rear camera setup

Earlier, few sketches of the Meizu Pro 7 surfaced online, and now new sketches are leaked which is looking similar to the device that was circulating a few months back. Now new sketches of a Meizu device has been spotted on Weibo like the sketches of Meizu Pro 7, and even this device will feature a dual rear camera setup and has a physical home button as we see on the Samsung devices and expect a fingerprint sensor embedded on this button.

The sketch reveals antenna lines that we have seen on the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus devices. We can see a dual-curved edge screen on the phone giving it beautiful edges. Nothing much is known for now, but we should be waiting for the company to announce it officially. We can expect more and more leaks to come up soon in the coming days.

meizu-front

Earlier we have seen Meizu Pro 7 leaking with Huawei's latest Kirin 960 chipset while there is a 6GB RAM. There is also a 12MP camera with a Sony IMX 386 sensor and there is an ultrasound under the fingerprint sensor. The Meizu Pro 7 smartphone is expected to come with a 5.62-inch Super AMOLED display on the front, with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 and the display will come bezel-less like the Mi Mix from Xiaomi.

We might well see this device earlier next year, and till then we will be getting more and more leaks of the same. Let us wait till Meizu officially announces the handset. Looking at the design, it looks like an high-end device, and we would like to it to be priced aggressively.

What do you think about this device? When can it be unveiled officially and what could the price range of the device? Stay tuned to Phoneradar and comment in the section below for more similar news.

Smartphone camera shootout: Asus Zenfone 3, Sony Xperia XZ and Huawei Mate 9

Smartphone camera shootout: Asus Zenfone 3, Sony Xperia XZ and Huawei Mate 9

Imaging

With a slew of smartphones coming out in time for the holidays, users are being spoilt for choice. For manufacturers, the challenge is to find a new X factor to add to a common slate-shaped device.

Other than looks, one thing they are banking on is the camera. Everyone likes to share pictures of food, babies and pets. Admit it or not, people want better images to show off their life events.

After our shootout earlier this year of the LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Huawei P9, we have three more contenders this time round.

On the table are the Asus Zenfone 3, Sony Xperia XZ and Huawei Mate 9 to duke it out to be the latest Android smartphone of choice for image quality.

Of the three phones, the Zenfone 3's 16-megapixel sensor seems a bit lightweight compared with the 20-megapixel sensor on the Mate 9 and 23-megapixel sensor on the Xperia XZ.

However, as most of us won't print anything beyond 4R-sized photos with these images, all three phones are definitely good enough for most printing needs.

What's more important is how the images are produced out of the box. Here, Huawei's dual-sensor camera system seems to have a distinct advantage over the competition, at least on paper.

For a much fairer comparison of the photos here, do try to set your screen brightness to about 75 per cent for a more accurate view of the image quality.

Outdoor shoot with digital zoom

The current batch of smartphones, even the budget ones from Xiaomi, can do really well in daylight shots. What's left is how the camera performs in terms of colour – something that can be quite subjective.

Another differentiating factor in this test would be the digital zoom. The Mate 9 utilises a unique algorithm with both its sensors to create a 12-megapixel image that represents a x2 zoom.

It promises not to lose sharpness and clarity, thanks to data extracted from the 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. Would that make a huge difference?

The selfie

When it comes to selfies or wefies, the main consideration is the skin tone of the person you are shooting and this is mostly handled by the front facing camera.

Asus' previous Zenfone Selfie smartphone was one of a handful of smartphones that had a flash in the front. It was very useful in light-starved environments.

Since then, Asus seem to have ditched the flash and followed the rest of the competition. Given the limitations for all these phones, I'd recommend using the front-facing camera in good light or at least find a good indoor lighting source before shooting.

The indoor/night shoot

When in good daylight, all the cameras from the three manufacturers did well. More challenging are indoor shots, especially when the interiors are being illuminated by light sources such as LEDs and Halogen downlights.

Even when attempting to do a night landscape, different light sources may also create problems such as loss in details in the relatively well-lit areas.

Sony Xperia XZ Night shot. I would have shot this at a lower ISO with a much longer shutter speed but the phone only gave me 1 second of exposure in manual mode. It severely restricts a user who wants to maximise image quality. PHOTO: Wilson WONG

I took the three phones indoors as well. Here, unfortunately, the Sony Xperia XZ seems to fare the worst. Its auto white balance missed the mark, giving the worst interior shot when pushed to the limit.

The following shots show a huge shift of white balance by the Sony phone, while the other two maintained the same colour. The Sony XZ did shoot quite well in the same exhibition elsewhere but this inconsistency is an issue.

The food shoot

Sony Xperia XZ. PHOTO: Wilson WONG

Food photos are an important part of using a smartphone today. Most of the time I would be indoors, relying on artificial lighting but where possible, I will find a window or even al fresco area to get the best light possible for my food shots.

In this round of tests, the Mate 9 does look a little under exposed due to the white plate giving a wrong reading for the brightness of the whole scene.

The controls

As much as image quality is important, it does no one any favours if the camera functions in a phone are hard to use, or restrictive.

A flagship phone should at least allow a user to grow from fully automatic controls to manual modes if they choose to. For most casual users, all three smartphones in this shootout can do their work with few hassles, as long as there is more than sufficient light.

However, if you want to get the most out of your phone and overcome some challenging shooting scenes, selecting the right modes or even using a manual mode is key. You can also take more impressive photos.

The Sony Xperia XZ has the most potential in this aspect. It is the only phone in the shootout to have a dedicated shutter button, just like how you would use a compact camera.

When it comes to its automatic mode, the phone actually chooses the right mode for the scene you are taking. I was impressed at first but was let down by the very rudimentary manual controls, which offer a maximum exposure of only 1 second.

Switching the shooting mode is the most frustrating as it takes its time to scroll through options. From a company that gave us the impressive α7 full-frame mirrorless camera, this was disappointing.

Surprisingly, the Asus Zenfone 3's on-screen controls gave me the most joy. I can quickly get to the settings, just like with the Mate 9's Leica-inspired controls. There is very little difference between the two.

The Zenfone 3 gives me 32 seconds of exposure for longer light trails to 1/50,000s. The Mate 9's range of settings is more restrictive, with shutter speed ranging from 30 seconds to 1/4000s. This may be inconsequential because I will probably use my DSLR for fast moving subjects anyway.

Small things count when it comes to initial impressions. When I shoot in landscape orientation, all the text and controls in the Xperia XZ and Zenfone 3 rotate with the phone.

Not with the Mate 9. This is certainly not a deal breaker but little details like these can wipe a bit of the shine off Leica's reputation for being meticulous.

Conclusion

Of the three, Sony has the chops to come out with a good camera. The S$998 Xperia XZ's exterior design shows its intent with a dedicated shutter button.

Sadly, its lack of good manual options cannot be compensated by a pretty clever automatic mode. Plus, the photos did not fair as well as the competition when the phone was pushed to the limit.

For a company that produces outstanding photographic equipment, Sony could have done more for a flagship phone.

Starting from S$398, the Zenfone 3 is not pitched as a "flagship" phone, but it generally does better than the Xperia XZ. Except for some night scenes during these tests, the Taiwanese company has done a great job.

For this shootout, my choice is the Huawei Mate 9. The power of having two types of sensors instead of two cameras with different zooms, is apparent in the photos, especially for difficult scenes.

Thanks to the monochrome sensor complementing a colour one, the Mate 9 manages to show off highlights even for images shot in the dark.

It is probably this feature that differentiates the Mate 9 from the others. A single colour sensor, common in so many other phones today, does not provide the same clarity, sharpness and detail.

Ultimately, the photos here offer a glimpse of what the phones can do. By no means are these tests exhaustive and reviews are usually subjective. Do share what you have shot with your own camera phones and let's compare away!

Gionee M2017 with dual-curved display, dual-rear camera, 7,000mAh battery spotted online

Home > News > Gionee M2017 with dual-curved display, dual-rear camera, 7,000mAh battery spotted online By Maitrayee Iyer | Published: November 23, 2016 10:10 AM IST Email @maitrayee94 comments Tags: gionee News Gionee-m2017-tenaa

Gionee has launched a few decent smartphones this year, but the one feature that the company has not yet inculcated in its smartphone is the dual-curved display. Until now that is. A couple of alleged photos of an upcoming Gionee smartphone has surfaced online, and it clearly shows the dual-curved display. Though the name of this Gionee smartphone is not known at the moment, it was recently spotted on TENAA with the model number M2017.

The photos of the smartphone on TENAA are in line with the live photos that have leaked online by Gizmochina. Talking about the design, the images show the front and back of the device, and almost immediately you notice the leather back. Besides leather, the back panel also sports a textured gold frame at the top and bottom edges of the device. The bottom metal frame also has the Gionee logo on it. The device also features a dual-camera setup. The front is dominated by the dual-curved display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, a physical home button at the bottom, and a selfie camera at the top. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right hand side.

Gionee-m2017-live-images

Gionee M2017 specifications

TENAA also reveals few specification that the Gionee M2017 is touted to come with. Starting with the display, the smartphone is expected to feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution (2560×1440 pixels). Under the hood will be a 1.95GHz octa-core processor paired with 6GB RAM. There will also be 128GB onboard storage, but there's no word on a microSD card slot yet.

Among the highlights is the dual-rear camera setup at the back, which includes a pair of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors with support for 4X optical zoom. There is also an 8-megapixel front camera for selfie and video calling. Another highlight of the phone is that the smartphone will be armed with a massive 7,000mAh battery, which the company claims will give up to 23 days battery life.

While there is no launch and pricing details available about the phone yet, the phone does seem likely to carry a heavy price tag. If you take into consideration the model number, it is an indication that this could be Gionee's flagship device for next year.

Microsoft Surface phone 2017 release date, specs

#SurfacePhone #WindowsMobile – Microsoft Surface phone 2017 release date, specs :  Speculations are rife that the first Microsoft Surface phone release date is looming. Per the rumor mill, a possible debut will be in April. After killing Nokia's Lumia series, the Redmond tech giant already pointed out that the company won't focus on mobile devices. The competition between Android and IOS devices had been stiff and its mobile devices had been falling off behind. So rebuilding its mobile division is not logical.

However, Windows Central  has learned that Panay Patos and his team are on the works of a smaller "Surface" device that enables users to make phone calls and send sms, which basically appears to be a mobile device of the Surface family. The tech site added, Microsoft may possibly test the waters again if a "paradigm shift" happens in the market, but Android and IOS are in the height of their success right now.

In addition, there claims that Microsoft had major holdup for the chipset of the surface phone as Intel pulled out on the mobile market. Hence, the reported Intel x86 chipset would no longer onboard on the Surface phone.

Despite the company's statement shooting down rumors about the Microsoft Surface phone, anew Microsoft Surface phone possible release date and specs speculations make the rounds. Since the rumored device will be part of the Surface line, it is expected to come with monstrous specs, Breathecast reported.

Tech enthusiasts assume that it will pack at least 4GB RAM and an internal storage of up to 256GB. Likely, it will also sport a super camera and new innovative feature. Also, the inclusion of iris scanner and dock station capability are also on the cards.

MWC 2017 will commence in a few months from now. If the rumors are true, the most anticipated device might make an appearance at the event and a Microsoft Surface phone release date might be announced too.

Cutting the Contract: A Guide to Setting Up a SIM-Free Phone in Japan

I'm not a big fan of Japan's larger telecom companies. Prices seem grossly inflated, competition is almost non-existent and getting out of the contract once you are locked in is almost impossible.

However, things have been looking up recently.

In May 2015, a small but significant change was made to the telecoms law. As of that date, any phone bought on a contract in Japan could, at the customer's request, be unlocked after a period of six months. Suddenly, switching networks became even cheaper and easier. This has, in a relatively short space of time, lead to a boom in the MVNO sector in Japan.

    The rise of MVNOs

A mobile virtual network operator, or MVNO, is basically a company that provides access to mobile networks but doesn't own its own network. In other words, it pays a larger provider for access to the network infrastructure and then negotiates its own contract with the customer. Given that MVNOs run with far less expensive overheads than traditional mobile networks, they can, for the most part, offer cheaper deals to the customer.

A typical "calls and data" combination on AU, Softbank or Docomo will run between ¥7,000 and ¥10,000 per month — depending on the amount of data and the model of phone you have signed up for. As an example, the MVNO contracts I have looked at — which do not include call time or a phone — come in at between ¥3-5,000 per month for unlimited data. However, if you can get by with just 3GB or 5GB of data per month, then in some cases this can go as low as ¥1,000 or ¥2,000 per month.

However, if you can get by on just 3GB or 5GB of data per month then in some cases this can go as low as ¥1,000 or ¥2,000 per month.

    What to consider?

There are a few important things to consider before you put pen to paper on that deal, though.

First, is your current phone more than 18 months old? If so, then your current network will most likely refuse to unlock it for you. Even if they do agree to unlock it, you may still encounter compatibility problems. For example, I recently had my old AU phone unlocked by a private company. However, the phone still will not work with Docomo's network or any of its adjoined MVNOs. This is simply down to the fact that their networks run on different frequencies.

    Buying a SIM-free phone

The best thing to do, assuming you can afford it, is to just buy yourself a new smartphone. I recommend using an online shopping site like Amazon or Rakuten for this. A high-grade phone like an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy will typically cost around ¥50,000 or more. However, if you aren't a slave to brands and trendy gimmicks then you can get some really good and fully functional phones in the ¥20-30,000 range, possibly even cheaper if you don't mind getting a second-hand model.

As an example: I bought a six-month-old ASUS smartphone, with similar specs to my previous AU-locked model, the Galaxy Note 3, for just ¥18,000.

When looking for bargains, be careful, and I recommend only buying from Japanese suppliers. The staff at the MVNO booth in my local Yodobashi Camera told me that only factory unlocked, SIM-free phones bought in Japan are guaranteed to work on their networks. Overseas phones may work, but there are no guarantees in this regard.

As an example, I bought a six-month-old ASUS smartphone, with similar specs to my previous, AU locked model, the Galaxy Note 3, for just ¥18,000.

    Signing up

In most cases, you will need a credit card to sign up. As I mentioned earlier, MVNOs offer cheaper prices by keeping operating costs down, and as such it's much easier for them to take an automated credit card payment than to send you a bill to pay at 7-Eleven or another convenience store each month.

Pay attention to the speed and data limits on offer. Also, how much extra does it cost to make calls? As an example, U Mobile offers an unlimited data SIM card for just over ¥3,000 per month, however, calls cost an additional ¥30 per minute. So, it really depends on if you're the type of person who makes a lot of calls, or if you're ok calling through Skype, Line and so on.

Another area to consider carefully is the daily data limit. For example, while the aforementioned plan from U Mobile has no monthly data limit, the staff did warn me: "If you use more than 2 or 3GBs in one day, then the network might go slow for a while."

This is a common practice around the world to prevent users abusing "unlimited" contracts. It is kind of annoying if it kicks in when you're halfway through a movie on Netflix though!

There is also anecdotal evidence that in times of high traffic — for example early evenings or weekends — that MVNO networks tend to suffer more slowdown and connectivity issues than the established networks. This isn't official, though, and could perhaps be explained through other means.

Finally, there's still the issue of a contract. Yahoo Mobile insists on a two-year contract, which means they have many of the same handicaps as the major carriers. Other MVNO providers usually require a commitment of six months to one year depending on the type of contract.

    The small print

Overall, moving to an MVNO is a bit like renting your own apartment in Japan: if you can afford the initial setup costs and you have the wherewithal to fill out all the Japanese paperwork, then you will almost certainly save substantial amounts of money. Some people, however, prefer the security of being with a bigger, more established firm. It really depends on your own financial situation. I certainly have no regrets about switching, but it's only been a couple of weeks. Lastly, if you are thinking of going sim-free, always be sure to read the small print!

Finally, if you're thinking of going SIM-free, always be sure to read the small print!

A powerful flying camera anyone can take anywhere

Editors' note: DJI is currently experiencing manufacturing and shipping delays for the Mavic Pro. The current estimated shipping time is six to eight weeks from placing an order.

There have been several kinder, gentler camera drones this year -- from the large PowerVision PowerEgg to the compact Yuneec Breeze -- but the DJI Mavic Pro is the only one to combine high performance, lots of automated flight modes and obstacle avoidance in an ultracompact body. Add in DJI's assortment of safety and ease-of-use features and you've got a drone that anyone can take anywhere.

One of the few complaints I've had about the company's Phantom models is that they aren't particularly travel friendly, mainly due to the camera and gimbal position and the fixed landing gear. The Mavic doesn't have these issues and its propeller arms and the props themselves fold up so there's no need to remove them.

The smaller size -- of both the drone and its controller -- and decidedly un-Phantom looks make it more approachable and less obtrusive. The thing is, you still get nearly the same performance as you would from the company's top-of-the-line Phantom 4. It'll cost you about the same, too: $1,000 in the US, AU$1,700 in Australia and £1,100 in the UK.

The Phantom 4 has a higher maximum speed and can withstand stronger winds, and its camera has a wider field of view. The Mavic Pro is basically better in every other way, though. For example, its new OcuSync encrypted transmission system, gives you control up to 4.3 miles (7 km) away and streams video at 1080p. The Phantom 4 has a max range of 3.1 miles (5 km) and streams at 720p.

Also, while it might not have the power to cut through really strong winds (DJI says it can handle winds up to 19-24 mph or 29-38 kph), it was able to keep the camera stable and fly steady in 10-15 mph winds and still get between 22-25 minutes of flight time before it landed itself. It does wa rn you when the winds are too strong for its motors, too.

Like the drone itself, the controller is very small, but still has a monochrome screen for important flight data and physical camera controls. Want to see what you're shooting? You can connect a phone and mount it just below the control sticks. Getting your phone in the mount is a bit of a pain and requires you to remove any case you might have on it, but it does mean your phone isn't blocking your view of the controls.

DJI added a switch to change from RC to a Wi-Fi mode, so you can quickly launch and control the Mavic with only your phone at distances up to 80 meters (262 feet) with a top speed of 4 meters per second (13 feet per second). It's nice to have for things like quick selfies, but using the actual controller is better.

Technical comparison from Honor 8 single and dual-camera imaging

Honor is known for delivering the best quality standards when it comes to affordable products. Over the years since it's inception, we have seen the company grow in the sense of establishing a connection with its user base. It's about offer innovation in the hands of consumers at a groundbreaking price. This time around for their latest flagship handset, the company might have priced it little higher than what was expected by the industry experts, but there is a valid reasoning that company thinks it's users would understand.

It is the look, feel, and performance of their Honor 8 handset which is so much fantastic that it's all worth it. You might have read our detailed review of the handset couple of weeks back when the company launched the handset in the country. Now today we are talking in detail about the camera technology this new Honor handset uses to challenge even the best of the smartphone cameras that have come out this year. Below you can read what the dual camera setup is and how does it work, it's all explained in the simplest manner we could have.

    Hardware

As you know by now that Honor 8 comes with a dual camera setup, the company being the first to introduced the dual camera setup on their Honor 6 Plus had the required expertise to improvise and modify camera output. And that is what company has done on their Honor 8. Taking some queues from Huawei P9, which is their parent company's smartphone. The latest flagship from the young mobile brand has outdone many camera imaging setups currently available in the market.

Out of two lenses, one allows for rich color output, while other offers monochrome feature, which is said to offer more light and increased sharpness to the output. Using best of both world's Honor 8 manages crisper and more detailed photos that are possible. The Monochrome setup means that second lens lacks bayer filter which is used in a camera to produce color images. This enables the monochrome lens to capture three times more light and thus helping in creating better outputs in low-light photography. On top of relying on capturing more light, the secondary B&W sensor is also helpful in playing with depth of field. Thus offering to create impressive bokeh effect outputs.

    Software

As you launch the camera app, you can swipe to the left or right to view options if you don't want to just, point and shoot. When you swipe towards left it will bring up the menu where you can adjust the size of the image, turn on location services, add grid layout, etc. While talking about accessing Auto, Pro, HDR and Panorama, you can switch between them quickly. The camera is incredibly easy to operate, even with little efforts you can expect impressive outputs.

Such ease and quality earlier only hoped on expensive camera setups, but Honor has tried to bring it to their smartphone, and I would tell you that they have most certainly succeeded in doing so. Another interesting thing about the software is that the Pro setting is quite intuitive, once you start playing and understanding (if not already) with aperture, focus and white balance, then you will definitely enjoy having this phone with you on every step of your life.

    Verdict

Honor has tried to achieve what many smartphone brands are trying to do for the past couple of years. And why we believe that this young brand has achieved the feat of offering greatest camera setup under an ideal pricing. The reason can be seen in the outputs which you can see in the gallery above as well as in our detailed review. Once you take the handset in your hand for a spin, then you will realize how easy it is to capture amazing shots when you have such a beautiful camera setup in your hands.

That is the main difference between a single and a dual camera imaging setup; you get to have so much depth of field and details within one shot. It can be said about moments in life. You may never know when the precious moments arrive, and when they arrive wouldn't you like to be enabled with the best camera in your hands. Yes, you do!
