Gionee has launched a few decent smartphones this year, but the one feature that the company has not yet inculcated in its smartphone is the dual-curved display. Until now that is. A couple of alleged photos of an upcoming Gionee smartphone has surfaced online, and it clearly shows the dual-curved display. Though the name of this Gionee smartphone is not known at the moment, it was recently spotted on TENAA with the model number M2017.
The photos of the smartphone on TENAA are in line with the live photos that have leaked online by Gizmochina. Talking about the design, the images show the front and back of the device, and almost immediately you notice the leather back. Besides leather, the back panel also sports a textured gold frame at the top and bottom edges of the device. The bottom metal frame also has the Gionee logo on it. The device also features a dual-camera setup. The front is dominated by the dual-curved display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, a physical home button at the bottom, and a selfie camera at the top. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right hand side.
TENAA also reveals few specification that the Gionee M2017 is touted to come with. Starting with the display, the smartphone is expected to feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution (2560×1440 pixels). Under the hood will be a 1.95GHz octa-core processor paired with 6GB RAM. There will also be 128GB onboard storage, but there's no word on a microSD card slot yet.
Among the highlights is the dual-rear camera setup at the back, which includes a pair of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors with support for 4X optical zoom. There is also an 8-megapixel front camera for selfie and video calling. Another highlight of the phone is that the smartphone will be armed with a massive 7,000mAh battery, which the company claims will give up to 23 days battery life.
While there is no launch and pricing details available about the phone yet, the phone does seem likely to carry a heavy price tag. If you take into consideration the model number, it is an indication that this could be Gionee's flagship device for next year.
