After revealing Xperia XZ premium at MWC, there hasn't been any news on the official launch of the phone. However, the company has launched its small brother Xperia XZs in several markets including India. For the first time, a telecommunications service provider O2 of Germany has announced that Xperia XZ Premium will begin shipping to users starting from 1st June. Also, Amazon UK provided the same date for the listing of the phone on its platform. Indian launch is murky at this point of time.
To recap, the IP68 water/dust resistant Xperia XZ comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD 4k HDR (3840 x 2160 pixels) display. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the Xperia XZ Premium's screen. Under the hood, i t is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 SOC that consists of four Kyro cores clocked at 2.45GHz and four Kyro cores clocked at 1.9GHz coupled with Adreno 540 GPU.
In terms of storage, it packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage with an option to expand the storage via microSD card upto 256GB. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with the company's customer software layer on the top. A non-removable 3200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support fuels the device.
On the camera front, it houses a 19MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, EIS, Laser autofocus, PDAF and LED flash. On the front, it sports a 13MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity options on Xperia XZ Premium include 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/GLONASS, NFC OTG support, USB Type-C port, etc. Sensors on board are a side-mounted Fingerprint, accelerometer, barometer, proximity, and compass. The device will be available in Luminous Chrome, Deepsea Black, and Bronze Pink.
