New Huawei P9 and P9 Plus Phones Have Two LEICA Cameras

The P9 and P9 Plus boast somewhat the same design as their predecessors in the P series, with a sprinkle of the Nexus 6P phone.

Features wise the two devices - the 5.2 inch P9 and the 5.5 inch P9 Plus comes with Kirin 955 2.5GHz 64- bit ARM-based processor. "They tested the phone in challenging lighting conditions and on long exposure modes, posting photos of their own home cities". The high-end smartphone has dual rear cameras with one for color photos and the other used for monochrome photos. One camera is color, while the other is monochrome and designed exclusively for black and white pictures.

For the camera, the company teamed up with camera legend Leica for the production of a dual 12MP primary camera that comes with a f/2.2, 27mm using a 1.25µm pixel size, phase detection autofocus, and a dual-tone LED flash.

The fingerprint sensor can be set up to keep the phone secure and the Signal+ 2.0 technology ensures the network connection is not lost whatever position the phone is held in.

The rear camera system comprises of two 12- megapixel lenses that work together to capture fantastic images by making the most of available light.

While Huawei has yet to launch in the US, the P9 - and its accompanying "heavy-duty media campaign" - indicates the company is planning to enter the market soon, Stofega said. The biggest annoyance was that the camera settings menus, as well as the slide-out tray of pro mode settings, didn't reorientate in landscape mode. While the P9 pairs this with 3GB of RAM, the P9 Plus ups the ante with 4GB of RAM. Then there is the enhanced P9 with 4GB of RAM and double the storage, and finally, the P9 Plus with a pressure sensitive display like the iPhone 6s Plus. That can be expanded with a MicroSD card, giving you more space to store your images and video. The P9 has a 3,000mAh battery while the P9 Plus has a larger 3,400mAh power pack, and Huawei are claiming up to a day and half of battery life for the P9. The P9 comes in four colours including Rose Gold, Titanium Grey, Mystic Silver and Prestige Gold, with a P9 Deluxe model also available in Haze Gold and Ceramic White.

So far, the prices for these models have been announced only for the United Kingdom markets at roughly $680 for the 32GB P9 and $850 for the P9 Plus.

The Huawei P9 champions photography quality as a key feature, with duel-lens technology developed in cooperation with the German optics manufacturer Leica.
