Apple is planning to introduce an upgraded iPhone trade-in program for devices with damaged screens, cameras, or buttons in the US. In addition, it will also offer a new program which will allow Apple Retail Stores to install screen protectors on iPhones as well.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, the updated program will allow Apple Stores to give credit for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6/6 Plus units with damaged displays, cameras, and buttons within reason. The company believes that this new program will encourage new iPhone upgrades versus a standard iPhone screen repair.
Apple will also start offering official plastic screen protector installations on iPhones, however, the program will begin rolling out in select stores only. The report states that customers can expect trade-in values around $50 for an iPhone 5S, $200 for a 6 and $250 for a 6 Plus respectively.
To prevent users from coming back with a broken screen, the company is also said to be working on in-store screen protector installation. Machines are reportedly heading to Apple Stores that let employees install screen protectors with ease.
Last year, Apple had also introduced a replacement program for iPhone 6 Plus users with faulty camera. It would allow a small percentage of iPhone 6 Plus owners to replace the iSight camera for free, after the company found out that limited devices feature the blurry images issue. This isn't something new, and in the past we've seen similar replacement programs as well. The company had announced to replace the faulty battery of the iPhone 5, among other similar replacements.
