Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Camera Failed Issue & Other Related Problems

Camera phone's have come a long way ever since the Nokia 7650, which is considered as the first widely available camera phone, became available in the market in 2002. While this phone came with a 0.3 MP camera present smartphones such as the #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 have  a 16mp rear camera and a 3.7MP front camera. The camera module of this phone is very impressive that it even takes better photos than most point and shoot cameras.

Note 4 Camera Failed

Problem: Recently replaced a damaged camera and now i'm getting a "camera failed" code. I've ran through all the steps listed to get camera working from reset, to deleting cache, forced stop, clearing partition, etc…. i've taken apart the phone a few times to check connections to no avail. The camera i purchased was from amazon. The only other option i can think of is a defective cam. Please let me know if they're any other options I'm not considering before i replace the cam. Thank you!

Solution:  Since you already performed a factory reset then it is safe to assume that this problem is hardware related. It is possible that the camera module you purchased is defective. There's also the possibility that some other component inside your phone has been affected when the camera module was replaced. It could also be that the camera module model is not compatible with your phone. The best way to proceed in this scenario is to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Takes Long Time To Take Photo

Problem: Hello, my issue is that my camera takes minutes to take the photo, and when it does it takes several more minutes for it to pop up in the preview window. I'm thinking I must have setting set that I'm not aware of. Thank you in advance for your help.

Solution: The first thing that you should check if your camera takes minutes to take a photo is the camera settings. Try changing the mode to Auto then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with wiping the cache and data of the camera app. This will clear out the temporary data stored in the app itself which could be causing this problem. It's also best if you follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a third party app installed in your phone. This usually occurs if the said app is conflicting with the camera ap. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Try to use your camera in this mode. If the issue does not occur then an app may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

A faulty microSD card will also cause a delay in taking photos especially if the default storage location of the camera is set to the microSD card. To check if this is the case try taking out the microSD card then check if the problem still occurs.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the reset does not resolve the issue then this may already be caused by a problem with the phone hardware. If this is the case I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Will Not Focus

Problem: Everytime I try to take a picture, my camera will not focus no matter what I do. A few months ago the camera glass came off of it, and I blow into it to see if that will work but nothing does.

Solution: Is the camera glass still attached to your phone? If it isn't then the camera sensor could potentially be exposed to dust and dirt which will not only affect its focusing ability but will also affect the quality of the photos taken. If the camera glass or lens is removed then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked and repaired.

If the camera lens is attached to your phone then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

First, you should make sure that the camera lens is clean. Wipe the lens with a microfiber cloth or lens paper cleaner to get rid of dust or dirt that may be present. If the lens has a protective film then remove this as well as this affects the focusing ability of the phone.

Does your phone have a case? If it has then try removing it. The case may be interfering with the camera which makes it having difficulty to focus.

Moving to the software side the first thing you need to do is to clear the cache and data of the camera app. This clears out the temporary data in the app itself which if corrupt can cause this problem.

If the issue still occurs then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This deletes the temporary data in the phone. If the problem still occurs then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue then this could already be caused by a hardware problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Warning Server Error Occured Please Restart Camera

Problem: Ever since the 3rd week I have had this phone when I try to take a picture this pops up…  WARNING SERVER ERROR OCCURRED  PLEASE RESTART CAMERA… if I'm quick I can hit the selfie but to. And it'll take selfies, but that's it…. any ideas?  Thanks for your service!

Solution: Try checking first if the camera app is causing this problem by clearing the cache and data of the camera app. You should also check if an app you installed in your phone is causing the camera to act this way by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Try using the camera in this mode and check if the error still appears. If it doesn't then the problem could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a glitch in the phone software. If this is the case then you need to start the device in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your phone. Restart your phone after this then try to use the camera. If the problem still occurs then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then this could already be caused by a defective camera module. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Camera Will Not Focus

Problem: Camera will not focus. I've read numerous complaints about this blurry camera issue. Is it everyone or bad software? Selfie mode focus fine but back camera is blurry unless i do something like shake my phone. I've soft reset, cleaned the lens, cleared camera cache, cleared phone partition and nothing seems to work. Is there anything else i can try?

Solution: If your phone focuses only if you shake it then the problem is already hardware related. Have the camera module of your device checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Camera Takes Black Photos

Problem: When taking a picture with the flash the flash goes off then takes picture. Picture is black. Not sure if flash stay's on long enough? I had to replace battery with oem battery recently. Phone is new replacement. Had issues so at&t thought it was the Phoenix and sent me a new one.

Solution: Try to check first if this problem is caused by the camera app by clearing its cache and data. You can also try to download a third party camera app from the Google Play Store then check if the photos taken by the app also appear black.

One best way to check if the phone software is causing this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset you should immediately check the phone camera. If it still takes black photos then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
