Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the First Smartphone with a 4K UHD Display, also gets Snapdragon 810 SoC, 23MP camera

A few days we shared with you a leak which was suggesting that the Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone will get a 23MP camera. Now the handset has become official and indeed, it does bring with it some impressive features in the imaging department but also when it comes to its display.

It's crazy to see how fast has the phone-making technology evolved, and the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the best example to understand just how amazing smartphone displays have become. It is the world's first 4K UHD smartphone, with a 5.5-inch display and a 3840×2160 resolution resulting in an amazing 806 pixels per inch density.

The Xperia Z5 Premium feature a new 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor with a 23MP resolution and a an f/2.0 aperture, which is the same camera on the standard Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact that have been announced, as well. The camera can capture 4K videos with improved sony xperia z5Intelligent Active Mode and SteadyShot technology which makes smooth and sharp videos even in low-light conditions. It goes without saying that it comes with ISO, as well.

The new camera also locks focus in just 0.03 seconds and it also comes with a 5x digital zoom which ensures minimal quality loss. On the front there's a 5MP shooter with an Exmor R sensorwith a 25mm wide-angle lens. The is smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage is set a 32GB but you can increase it up to 200GB with a microSD card.

Since Sony has always promoted its smartphones as multimedia devices, it's not a wonder that the Z5 Premium comes with High-Res Audio technology, as well. The DSEE HX technology also takes regular audio and upscales it to near High-Res levels.

Furthermore, the LDAC codec promises a 3-fold improvement over the basic audio streaming. The handset also comes with a pair speakers in front to be able to enjoy this technology, but Sony recommends to get a set of wired or Bluetooth handsets to make use of the noise-cancelling features.

Another specific feature for the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is its stainless steel frame, whereas the other Z5s are made from aluminum, being available in Black, Gold or Chrome. The body of the smartphne is also IP65/68 rated, which means it's dust- and waterproof, and also gets a a cap-less USB port.

There's also now a fingerprint sensor on the redesigned Power key, as this security method is already becoming a norm with premium devices. On the software department you will find  Android 5.1 with Sony's own skin.

The device comes with a high capacity 3430 mAh battery wihch is said to last for up to two days, and it also features the quick charge capability from Qualcomm.  The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will launch globally in November, and that's when its price will be known, as well. The handset will come in single and dual-SIM versions.
